Wierd blower problems (related?) 850 1995

I have an 850 turbo with 88k. Twice it has happened, both on hot days using A/C, that I have turned on the car (from cold) and before driving one mile the blower will suddenly kick out. In both instances, i have played with the controls, but it just remained off. But after coming to a quick stop, turning off the car, and restarting it, the blower works fine again. No troubles when the car is started warm or after it is restarted.

Also, when the blower is on low, regardless of whether manually set low or automatically, it will sometimes start squeaking. It is rather soft, but aggravating.

I have a one month warranty on this car I just bought (from an indy volvo shop) so I need to be able to influence them to fix the correct things.

Thanks a lot!

My 94 855 na is doing the exact same thing. During the hotest times, the blower will randomly shut off. Later (next day usually) it will be fine. Last time it cut out I gave it a healthy BUMP (kick) under the passenger side dash, and it started up immediately. I'm suspecting a loose connection as some previous threads have suggested.

    Peace,
    Rick

PS Mine does not sqeak yet.

Are any of the dash lights for the climate control blinking when this
happens? Flashing lights would indicate the system detected a problem.
The error code would have to be pulled by a dealer.

Blower motor failure is fairly common. A new one costs about $130
and takes about an hour to replace (it is behind the glove box).
It is a fairly easy do it yourself project if it comes to it.

No dash lights, just dead silence.

Very odd. When my blower failed it would run a few seconds and
then stop (the lights then came on). I think the controlling
computer detected the fan was drawing too much current and shut
it down after a couple seconds. This would repeat every time the
        car was started.

There are also some issues with a relay that controls the blower.
I've never dealt with it. Hopefully, someone else will mention
how to look at that as a possibility.
