Driver's Window Fails to Complete 'Auto-down' Mode 850 1996

1996 850 Wagon, N/A, manual

Another minor annoyance. This weekend the driver's-side window decided not go all the way down in response to quickly depressing and releasing the driver's-side window switch to cause it to go into the "auto-down" mode. The window stops about 2" shy of where it normally disappears into the door. I can cause it to complete its motion by manually depressing the window switch until the window dissappears.

Does anyone know how the bottom stop location is controlled in the "auto-down" mode? Is this an adjustment on the regulator?

Thanks.

Auto down is controlled by a relay in the center console. If the glass is binding in the track, the motor will overdraw and the relay stops the window. Try spraying the track with aerosol silicone lube. Also, it's possible something is out of kilter in the track.

    Hi Ken

I did not have a similar problem but on my 96 850 Wagon my passenger side window would go down and not come up again.

The problem was linked to the center Window console switch.

Buy some Contact Cleaner from Radio Shack and spray on and inside the power window switches and your problem migt be fixed..... otherwise you may have a sporadic window motor or even a short...........

The contact cleaner should be an easy one to try though

    Ali
