Help!!! 850

I have what appears to be a crankcase vacuum leak. That the shop cant find.
If you have any thoughts ideas or even prayers please help.
this is very frustrating and has become a hassle.

here's what happened. I took my baby into a friends shop for the rear engine seal (it was starting to leak) I also had the oil pan replace (to many bottom outs at high speed from the previous owner) gasket, fan belt and bushings.

it seemed she was all done (they had her for a week) and as I started her up to leave the shop the idle was really rough (kind of like when you change the oil and forget to put the cap back on...you've never done this?) anyway they hunted around for about an hr and told me I needed a idle speed control motor, mine was bad. it was not a dealer item but a special order from Florida (I live in San Francisco) this should have told me they had no idea what was wrong but...

Anyway the part came in the replaced it, not the problem. They checked the computer and no signals, they replace a few vacuum hoses no help, they searched around for about 2 hrs (i was standing right there) and they couldn't find the problem and so I was told drive it around for a few days and lets see if the computer picks up anything. Another Mechanic said since the battery was disconected it needs to relearn how to idle correctly. I dont know what to do but I do know my girl is running like crap and I need help. Any thoughts?

    Let's break this down... 850

The car ran OK before the work, right? After reassembly, the car runs rough, right? Lots of parts had to be removed/disconnected in order to install the rear main seal and replace the oil pan (perhaps the engine was pulled? sub-frame dropped?) BTW, I hope they replaced the O ring on the oil pick-up tube while they had the pan off...

I'm going out on a limb here, but I'll go with the assumtion that something was just not hooked back up right. Also, the mechanic who spoke of the computer needing to "re-learn" how to idle properly is mis-informed. Too bad you had to buy an idle control motor for nothing.

    Good Luck

    Might check this out:

    http://volvospeed.com/Repair/vacuum_lines.htm

Also, the car will idle fine after disconnecting the battery.
The ECU does not need to learn to do that.

Also, I think there is a sticker under the hood with correct
hose routing for vacumm lines. Might double-check it.

if they messed up w/ the IAC what makes you think they did the vauum lines correcly? I would check them yourself before digging into your wallet. Check the flame trap for a clog. check the lines going to the flame trap. It could be alot of things. The only advise i have is check the obvious first.
