heated seat sometimes works, sometimes not 850 1995

My driver seat always works, passenger seat is hit and miss. Volvo mechaniic said no codes were reported when I had it in for 70 k service. The light comes on when I turn switch. How do I find problem and fix it. I think heating element is ok, sometimes it gets hot and works. Thank you. Pregnant wife wants her heated seat to work this fall and winter.

    Sometimes the problem is with the thermostat, which rests against the element and is inserted through a hole in the bottom cushion. Could be a loose wire to the thermostat or perhaps the thermostat is bad. Check it with a tester. May also just be a loose wire to the element.
