Weak Turbo, rough idle, poor gas mileage and rich exhaust smell... 850 1997

...other than that, it runs great ;)

No significant previous problems. Dropped it off with my mechanic this morning, and waiting for the call. I'm thinking (hoping) it's a vacumn leak somewhere. It all started at the same time late yesterday. Any thoughts?

BTW - Check Engine light is NOT on.

    Hello there, Let me give you some food for thought.

    Have you ever heard of Amsoil before? If you have not you should look into it. I have a 1995 Volvo 850 GLT Sedan and have been using the Amsoil Product throughout the entire vehicle. I average around a 1K per week travel at about 75 MPH and average consistantly around 29 MPG. This car before only got about 23-24 mpg with the non sythetic products. I originally started using the product about 2 years ago in my 4 WD vehicle and was impressed with the results. Now I even sell the Amsoil Products.

    The Amsoil Synthetic products out perform all synthetics, sythetic blends and regular base motor oils that are currently on the market. Amsoil was the first Company to do full synthetics, they started in 1972.

    Probably a vacuum or pressure leak.

        Well, possibly. The O2 sensor comes immediately to mind. Turbo operation is governed by the ECU (you didn't turn the wastegate control rod, did you?) and it gets input from a number of sources, and the O2 reading is the ultimate arbiter. If the problem is not a vacuum or pressure leak on the intake side, I would suspect a problem in the emissions/fuel charging system.
