Spark Plugs for the T-6 S80 1999

I am doing the 60,000 mile check myself. I was really surprised by the $45.00 cost of the six plugs from Volvo! I want to the local NAPA parts store they had several different brands and prices. I was considering the AutoLite plugs for $30.00 which are "double platinum". Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

I used the Autolite double platinum plugs in my 99 T6 and they work just fine. I've got +22K miles on them now with no sign of a problem. I used dielectric grease on the terminals and anti-seize on the threads, I've used that combination on all my plug changes for the last 30 years and never had any problems.

Careful with the platinum plugs, they may affect idle. From http://64.105.196.250/Reviews/iridium.htm :

"There are three basic concerns when shopping for a spark plug, idle quality, performance, and longevity. From what I have found, copper seems to idle the best as well as offer the best starts. The downside is copper plugs show gap erosion at around 7,000 miles. While platinum plugs last well beyond 7,000 miles, they do not perform as well as copper. This is where Denso enters the picture. Denso claims good all around performance as well as longevity with their iridium plugs. Start up and idle is at least as good as with copper plugs, and better than platinum plugs. Longevity has yet to be determined."

Trouble is, the Denso plugs are about $12 each.

I put a set on my wife's S80 2.9, and they run fine, both idle and high speed. (Probably overkill for the NA engine, but what the heck.)

    Good luck.

    OEM S80 1999

I'd agree with Chris and only use OEM (also Platinum btw), especially considering the work required to change them on a T6. You'll have no problems with OEM and other plugs will not, cannot give you any advantages despite any BS claims (they're nothing more than spark plugs).

unless you want to stare at the check engine light I'd stick with the plugs designed for the car. We've had a lot of misfire situations with non-OE plugs, they're either too hot or too cold. The next closest to volvo plugs are Bosch, they make the Volvo plugs
