This past weekend the SRS light on my 850 started to flicker then glow steady. I have contacted the volvo dealer, and have been told figure on $100 to $500 just to track the problem. Then they will give me an estimate of repair costs. Is this typical of what others have expieranced on this matter. I am trying to find information on where I could find a list of the codes to at least know if what I am being told is correct from the dealer.

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to get off cheap on this repair, but I would like to know what the codes are prior to going to the dealer.

    I checked the codes and found 1-1-1, the typical code for no errors. I removed the fuses to c heck for a bad connection in that area, and the light was back to glowing very dim. After the next vehicle start, the light went out completly. It has stayted out now for several starts. I am not sure how to proceed, maybe I should just consider it lucky for now and wait for the next occurance.

    Codes are read from the onboard system located under the hood behind the right headlight. It is attached to the front of the computer housing (black plastic box). The codes for the SRS are read on socket B5: turn key to position II, plug the jumper wire into socket B5 and press the button once for about a second, the red light blinks out the three digit code. Press the button again for the next code. When you get a repeat, you are done.

      My Haynes manual did not list the needed port. Thanks for that pc. of information. Now, the next question. Where can I find a list of the codes. I will try the procedure above, and note the output, but I would like to see what it is telling me.
