Service indicator V70-XC70 2002

Had the dealer do first oil change at 5K mi. just hit 7500 and the message center indicates that it's due for service. I called Volvo customer service for the protocall to reset, and they gave me the same instructions that worked on my 1999 XC - key off, hold in trip odo. reset, turn key on, hold for 10sec until message is flashing and then release while still flashing within 4 sec.
This worked fine on my 99 but will not work on the 2002. Another call to customer service resulted in no help - "it should work". I'd rather not have to travel to the dealer and waite for them to do it. Anybody have a "fix"?

For MY02, the procedure varies slightly from earlier models.

For MY99-01
1. Turn ignition key to position I
2. Press and hold the trip reset button
3. Turn ignition switch to position II (while holding in the buttton)
4. Continue holding trip mileage button for about 10 seconds
5. After Service Light flashes, release the trip mileage button.
6. You may hear a beep-beep to confirm command accepted

For MY 02
1) Turn ignition to position I
2) Press and hold the trip reset button and wait for the trip mileage
to set to zero.
3) While holding in the button, turn the key to pos. II, and watch the trip miles.
4) When the previously displayed miles reappears, release the button.

There is no confirmation chime.

Thanks! It worked. Volvo customer service is clearly giving out the wrong instructions. BTW, it's still eaiser than my 95 850Turbo wagon. On that one you had to go to open a little computer panel behind the right headlights, move a jumper wire, and then punch in the code 1 - 5- 1 on a small button with an led.

Just so you know..you can(the next time your at a dealer service dept)have them set the SE light to come on at another interval, other than the 7500mi. default one. They can be set for actual hours, hours of engine running, or a few milage based intervals.
