Has anyone replaced the control arm w/ball joint? 850 1995

Both ball joints need to replaced. I was told that the entire control w/ ball joint is removed and then replaced with the new. How complicated?

Has anyone replaced the control arm w/ball joint? 850 1995

I just replaced all my front end parts.
#1 go to www.newandusedcarparts.com control arm w/ball joints, $96.00 ea.
I haven't found a better price anywhere.

when you losen the bolt holding the ball joint in, make sure you remove it fully,as the shaft of the ball joint is keyed to the bolt.

remove bushing bolts and drop the arm, just make sure you pull it down evenly
as it is a snug fit. you do not have to get the car aligned if theses are the
only parts you are replacing. Fairly quick job depending on what tools you
have. I have an air compressor, makes the job go faster.

Pretty easy actually. I helped a friend of mine replace his lower control arms on his 850 Turbo.

Jack the car up and support it with stands.
Remove the bolt at the bottom of the strut. It secures the ball jount to the strut.
You may have to pound on the control arm to get it out or lever it out.
Unbolt the arms from the chassis.
Replace the arms.

Do one side at a time.
The advantage is that you also get new bushings.
Can the old ones be recycles?

You might want to spray your CV boots with silicone spray, rack boots and tie rod ends as well.
