NE1 Know location of Outside Air Temp Sensor Location? V70-XC70 2000

Hello,

My first post here. Thanks for the prior knowledge. Our 2000 V70 always has this problem about an inaccurate outside air temperature. Does anyone know where the sensor is located (I'm assuming within the engine compartment since the temp is always 20 plus degrees higher than it should be). And further is there some way to relocate it to another more accurate location? TIA.

Tom W.

Right behind the front airdam, slightly off-center driver's side. The sensor is not accurate unless the car has been moving for a couple minutes, as it computes averages. If you're at idle and/or ina sun-baked barking lot, you'll get very high readings from radiator/intercooler/ac heat exchangers and the hot pavement.

I'm not absolutely positive, but I think that the sensors are just behind the fog light grills on the front spoiler. When I last had my car up in the air I had a chance to get a good look at the underside of the car and found two sensors behind the fog light grill(One on either side of the car). I was told that the sensors were the outside temp. sensors and that it takes readings from both sides and averages the temp. for the computer display. If I'm wrong you can blame my indy mechanic.

Close. The sensor on the drivers side is for the dash guage reading. The 1 on the passenger side is for ambient air temp info for the engine management system.
