My knowledge of Volvo mufflers besides there excellant quality(my opinion!)is that in general they are very low restrictive/low back pressure. If I wanted to put on an even less restrictive muffler(if one exists and how would I know?) what muffler out there would work? I don't want to spend a lot of money and I am a strong supporter of the KISS principal, thanks, Ed

There is always the option of the volvo sport exhaust too. Check with your local dealer to see how the cost compares to the IPD exahust though

Since our cars are turbo, it won't be that loud. Even without a muffler, it didn't sound much louder-just the tone changed. For maximum KISS you can always run straight pipe and save both weight and backpressure. I have an IPD exhaust and it's not loud at all, much to my disappointment.

Myself, I can't imagine the extra noise/expense to be worth the single-digit hp increase. This would only be worth your trouble if you are doing boost, intake, and chip mods.

I'm pretty happy with stock, myself.
