I'm attempting to change my front rotors for the first time. I have been following the instructions on volvospeed bay 13 and have removed the pads and the caliper assembly. I removed the 10mm retaining bolt and now the instuctions say to use a hammer to remove the rotor. I have been banging away for 30 minutes and still the rotor has not appeared budge. I have tried spraying with WD40 but still no luck. Any advice?

Just replaced the rotors on my wife's '96 850 wagon yesterday morning.

Five wheel bolts.
Pad retaining spring.
Two caliper locating pins.
Pull caliper off and rest on lower control arm.
Two caliper bracket bolts (14mm socket?).
One wheel locating pin (10mm wrench).

Rotor should now be free.

If not, bang away.

I used a torch and a heavy hammer.

After you mentioning it, I guess a could have tried a larger hammer. Maybe even sledge hammer. I don't know the weight of the hammer I used but it's your normal sized, everyday, carpenter sized hapmer, but in retrospect, it seems small compared to the mass of the rotor. Just as with many things, "If you need more power, use a bigger hammer!"

Must live in a high humidity area. Mine came off easily...
