oil leak on 1995 850 Turbo and another problem 850 1995

Hi I'm new to brickboard, but post on volvospeed quite often now for the past month. I recently purchased a volvo 1995 850 turbo w/ 79k on it. My problems and questions are:

I have an oil leak that is coming from the direction of the back of hood (toward dash) and in the center of the car. Perhaps a rear main seal. At the same time after keeping the engine on in park for about 5 minutes a little bit of smoke started to come from around that position to. That is my one problem and question I had, and hope for some good suggestions.

My second is, I have a shaking problem when the car is running the engine shakes a little bit and sputters a little bit. I just replaced spark plugs and that helped a little, I plan to replace dist. cap and rotor tomorrow to see what that will do and perhaps the ignition coil wire too. Just curious if anyone has had this problem before? It also shakes when the car is in drive too and the shaking doesn't seem to stop.

Thanks in advance.

Jay

Clean your throttle body. What kind of fuel mileage are you getting? Check you paper work to see if the front O2 sensor has been replaced. These are two main problems that every owner should look at. The turbo return line is another problem with oil leaks. Check to see if oil is leaking from that area as well. Visit Bay 13 for repair info.

A car with that kind of miles, check on the timing belt as well. You don't want that to break on you.

Yeah I plan on cleaning my throttle body tomorrow (not sure where located but buying the haynes book anyhow). Also plan on replacing rotor, and dist. cap tomorrow. I have yet to really drive the car, I just purchased it. No sign of the O2 sensor being replaced yet, but I thought the check engine light comes on when that is due? I will also check the turbo return line tomorrow to see what that is doing.

As far as timing belt, it hasn't been done yet and I definitely don't want it to break on me. I will have my mechanic replace that most likely.

      Thanks for replying.

      Jay
