A/C questions 850

Yes, my 95 850 has a dead evap and can't afford to get fixed....Going on a 6 hour trip and the thought of driving in heat has made me think of recharging myself...at least just for the trip.

Isn't there oil in the A/C system that keeps the compressor lubed? If you constantly charge the system, (as the former owner did) doesn't this lubricant eventually leak out?

Is the lubricant in the R134 freon? If not, how do you add oil?

Don't want to ruin my compressor, cause this is the only thing, besides the blower that works on the A/C.

Any help is appreciated.

A/C questions 850

I went all summer adding refridgerant and lubrication oil (some cans consist of both), and reading posts to figure how to avoid the $1000+ cost of a new evaporator for my '96 850 GFT. Finally, I bought some Cryoseal sealer for $125, which my mechanic installed (they guarantee it for one year.) So far--one month later--it works just fine, and I no longer add in refridgerant.

There is also a prescribed amount of oil that needs to be in the system. I'd have a good mech do the recharge. A lot like going to a dentist for a filling....
