My '98 V70 R AWD has an one exhaust outlet and tail pipe on the right rear side and a cover on the left side of the bumper where a dual outlet could go. Is it possible to modify the system to create a dual exhaust just by adding a tip to the existing left-hand muffler (or is the left side a resonator)? Beyond the pure aesthetic improvement of creating a dual system, would this modification improve exhaust flow?

    KENT,MY NAME IS CEDRIC AND ALSO HAVE A 98 AWD R WAGON AND I ASKED MYSELF THE SAME QUESTION.SO WHAT I DID WAS INSTALL THE EXHAUST FROM A 2000 AWD R WAGON AND IT FIT 100%.PEICE OF CAKE!HERES WHAT I DID...TAKE YOUR OLD EXHAUST LOOSE JUST FORWARD OF THE REAR AXLE ASSY.YOU MAY NEED TO SPRAY SOME PENETRANT ON A FEW DAYS IN ADVANCE.REMOVE THE SYSTEM (MINE WAS EASY)KEEP ALL OF YOUR RUBBER HANGERS.REMOVE THE BLANK BUMPER COVER,CAREFUL NOT TO SCAR THE BUMPER WHEN REMOVING THOSE BLACK RIVETS.CALL SWEDISH ENGINEERING,TALK TO PHILLIP AND ORDER THE EXHAUST,2 RIVETS,YOU'LL NEED ANOTHER TIP,PLUS THE "FRAME" THAT FILLS IN THE NEW OPENING SO IT WILL MATCH THE OPPOSITE SIDE.AND TO TOP IT OFF I ALSO GOT A CAN OF VOLVO PAINT AND CLEAR COAT TO PERFECTLY MATCH THE OPPOSITE TRIM PIECE.AFTER A LITTLE MORE THAN 300$ I HAVE A FREER FLOWING UNIT DEEPER SOUND PLUS IT LOOKS LIKE A 2000.IPD'S STAINLESS UNIT FOR MUCH MORE MAY FLOW A LITTLE MORE,BUT YOU MAY NEVER REALIZE FULL THROTTLE FOR EXTENDED DURATIONS.I WAS TOLD THIS BY THE GUYS AT IPD.TRUST ME,THE FIT IS PERFECT.GOOD LUCK CEDRIC,CEDKIMBRAN@AOL.COM

      Do you know if this procedure would work for a 98 V70 AWD, just the AWD not the R version?

      Did you notice or feel any difference as a result of this mod?

    Yes IPD makes it, I have it on my r wagon. Check them out at www.ipdusa.com for info. It is made just for this car and installs easily.
