I have a 97 850 T-5. The factory keychain remote has never worked well, which I understand is problematic with Volvo but now it doesn't work at all. I replaced the batteries...nothing, it seems wore out. I called the dealer and they wanted $96.00. Sorry, not paying that. Does anyone know a good source for these? Mine is the square 2 button remote. Also, is there a way to check if its the transmitter in case the remote isn't the problem?

    Just to clarify one thing, the remote is the transmitter. The car gets programed to the remote. They can be obtained on ebay... Easy to program (get the car to see the transmitter).
