Hi,

I have a 1999 V70 with 60k. CE light came on, went off, came back on. Took it to Auto Zone, which pulled a P0455 code. Someone says I need to install a new purge valve. Is this correct? Are there other parts to replace at the same time? (e.g., charcoal canister). I need some instructions on where these components are located, and how to make the repair (no Chilton yet!). Thanks for any info.

I HAD THE SAME CODE ON MY 98 AWD R,AND LOGIC TOLD ME TO CHECK THE GAS CAP,AND SURE ENOUGH IT WAS LOOSE.I ALSO HAVE A NASTY HABIT OF LETTING MY CAR RUN WHILE FILLING UP.TRY GETTING YOUR LIGHT RESET AND MAKE SURE YOU SHUT DOWN WHILE RE-FUELING.I FIND IT HARD TO BELEIVE THESE PARTS GOING BAD ON A 99.GOOD LUCK.CEDRIC 98 AWD R SAFFRON SPORTWAGON.

JD,
The '97 GLT gets code 442 about every 500 miles or so and 455 about every 1200 miles. Most of the time in is durring the decent into Denver from the West.
I know it is some type of evap leek, but... If you find out let me know I hate haveing that CE go on, I am allways thinking the worst.
