Engine Speed 850 1994

Recently I have noticed that when I take my foot off the accelerator when the car is doing over 50 MPH the engine spped will drop to where it usually idles and then it goes up to 2000 RPM and thenslowly drift down as the spped of the car comes down. I have never noticed this before and can't fiure out what is causing this. I am not sure where to look for a problem.

If anyone has had a similar problem please let me know and let me know what the fix is.

Thanks in advance.

seems like tranny momentarily disconnects from the engine - I'm no pro in this and wouldn't know what to do. If the car is running smooth, I would not worry. also, check for engine and tranny codes (see bay 13)
