What MPG do you 850 Turbo/T-5 drivers get? 850 1995

On my '95 850 Turbo sedan I calculated that I got 16.7 MPG, and this is with VERY aggressive driving around town in sport mode. Needless to say I was pleasantly suprised. That's pretty decent mileage considering how hard I push my Volvo Turbo.

What MPG do you 850 Turbo/T-5 drivers get? 850 1996

OK, I've read all the messages in this thread and as a result am somewhat bummed. My mileage over the past 2+ years since buying the 855T was fairly consistent between 20-22 MPG. Now I'm hearing that it should be a good bit better even for the mixed driving that is mostly what I do. I've recently replaced the O2 sensor - check engine light kept coming on and mileage seemed to be down just a bit. More recently I lost virtually all boost, had a repeat of the CE light and the mileage dropped by 2-3 MPG. Turned out that the middle intake hose was blown out. Even after making this repair the MPG is still down around 19. What's the deal? The brick runs smooth and strong, but it sounds like I should be going through much less fuel - I would at least expect a return to pre-intake hose blowout MPG. Comments?

    > On my '95 850 Turbo sedan I calculated that I got 16.7 MPG,

Sounds fishy to me: My '95 850 Turbo sedan came standard with a fuel
computer, so I read the mileage on a LCD, I don't calculate it.

If you say so (or you use the throttle like a binary switch). If mine got
mileage that poor (it never has), I'd take it apart to find out what was
    wrong with it.

I have to push it pretty hard to get the mpg much below 20 in this city; I
don't think I've ever gotten it below 18. I don't use the AC very much, but
I compensate by using some drive-throughs...

On the highway -- where I like to keep my Cruise Rating System number (avg mph
+ avg mpg) above 100 -- 24-26 is the norm, but I've seen higher.

      dave~

Well I don't know how accurate the LCD is. Basically I filled a full tank, then drove it for 200+ miles then filled it back up, and divided it by how many gallons I filled and came up with 16.7 MPG. Does that seem unusually low? I was looking at the window sticker and it said 19 MPG in the city, and that varies from 16-21, depending on how it's driven.

My T-5R gets 15-17 city (unless I have a bunch of days when it seems I can't get a red light without a ricer or expensive German car (quickly becoming a redundant phrase...$60,000 VWs??!!) lining up in the next lane. Highways I'll see 26-27 running 70-80ish. At 60ish I can get 30 mpg. FWIW a couple weeks ago I was following my daughter's camp bus on I-95 en route to the D.C. Zoo, and at 60 by drafting I saw 37.1 for 4 or 5 miles. Coolio.

    24.77 mpg... 850 1995

I have only had my '96 855T since 7-16. In that time I have put on 1428.9 miles, and have burned 57.596 gallons of premium fuel. It comes out to 24.77mpg. I am very pleased with those figures!

About the same here with my 96 850R... but what I'm more surprised by is that my 405hp Vette Z06 gets the same mileage in town (18mpg). And this is with an occassional blow-everyone's-doors off run.

    I currently get about 18.5 - 20.0 mpg around town, 22-24 highway with my '94 850 turbo & modifications.

Before the modifications I was closer to 20 - 22 mpg around town, and 24-27 highway.

The last tankful was only 18+ local driving, but I've only had it for 2 months and can't help but dip into the boost. Wasting fuel but having fun!
