 Recirculation light glows constantly 850

I lifted the pollen filter and noticed the Recirculation flap is closed tight when the switch is on or off , and the little light is glowing permanently .
The switch itself seems ok ,
Could this be the motor or just a relay problem?
I am new to the 850 as I just purchased a 96 model two days ago.
So far this is the only problem I have unearthed .
Most grateful for any help.

    The plot thickens!!
Removed the glovebox to find that the recirc. flap arm had been screwed shut and the black wire from the switch had been cut!!!
I recieved this car from Singapore so I hope the previous owner was not using a Volvo service agent!
Reinstated the black wire and all looked good as the flap opened but here is the snag.
When it closed again the motor kept revolving making a loud clicking noise.
    New motor???
    Any info most appreciated ,
    Thanks

Perhaps the "damper motor end limits" need to be adjusted. There are potentiometers in all 5 damper motors that inform the ECU of their position. Also used to prevent motors from running too far. Reset is carried out via the scan tool and diagnostic link, and takes only a few minutes. Visit a dealer and ask to have the system checked for error codes and damper limits reset.

        Thanks for the responses.
Looks like I am in for a new motor as the plastic cogs are all stripped ,
        Is this motor considered servicable?
Or do I need to purchase a complete unit?

        Thanks
