Hi,

We have two Volvo V70 98's and the dealer wants $42.00 to reset the Service Reminder indicator light.

What is the best alternative? Is there software package or does one need to buy the tool from IPD or other places.

Also, where can I get the best deal for the tool or package?

you can always take out the little light bulb on the back of the speedometer unit it is a bit of work to get at but each service indicator has it's own little bulb I'll do mine the next time I've got an hour and a half to kill the first few years the dealers here were resetting for free not anymore

Wow ... a his and her V70 AWD, you guys are awesome! I drive a 98 V70 AWD and from what I read, there is no simple procedure to reset service light. There is a procedure for the 99-2000. As for me, I just live with it being on until the next time I go to the dealer, they usually do it for free if I do a major maintenance. It's a minor nuisance, certainly not worth one of these reset tools at $178 from IPD ... at least I don't think so.

i tried the last tip on the 99v70 reset. hold the computer reset button with the kep in position two until the service light flashes.
never happend.
did i do it wrong or is that not the proper procedure.

What year is your car? That procedure only work for 99-2000. There is no procedure for the 98's.

its a 99 v70. tried the procedure from Norm. hold downtrip reset button,turn iginiton to position 2,wait for service light to flash, turn key off.
didnotseem to work. am i using the correct procedure in the proper sequence?
does it matter what position computer selector switch is in? miles,temp, orwhatever?
thanks for any tips. it sits out in the garage now with the battery discoected to try and reset that way.
