Should I replace transmission mode [Win/Eco/Sprt] switch? 850

Hi,

I have a question regarding the transmission mode switch which is located near the window switches in the center console. It doesn't switch to winter mode(only switched once since I bought my car in December), and I'm not sure if it switches back and forth to sport/econo modes (if it does I can't feel any difference). Is there any specific way to check if it works? Do you think it would make a difference if I go ahead and replace it. This weekend I will flush the transmission and I will check the transmission logger for any errors but I don't think I'll get anything there too, there's no slip or any other malfunction in the transmission or shifting.

Thanks,
Ihsan 95 850 N/A

Winter mode causes the car to start in third gear. Helpful on
ice. The car will feel like a slug if it is working.

Sport mode causes the tranny to hold the shift points a bit longer.
You can notice the difference at partial throttle by paying close
attention to the shift points. (You do need to wait til the car is warmed
up since the shift points are held a bit high when the engine is cold
to speed warmup.)

If you floor it, the sport and econo mode both hold shifts til redline
so flooring it won't cause you to see any difference.

As far as I know the Winter mode just tells the transmission to skip first gear to reduce the likelyhood of wheel spin when starting out in winter conditions. Mine doesn't have a sport mode, but I would assume it is just adjusting shift points. Unless you are really in tune with your tranny and know it isn't changing based on switch selection I wouldn't worry about it.
