Transmission fault code 850

Last night I retrieved a 3-2-3 code from the A2 socket on my 1994 850 turbo. I checked this because my wife had been getting the flashing up arrow dash light the past couple of days.

Can someone tell me what this code means? Is it related to the PNP switch or is it indicative of a more severe transmission problem?

Socket A-2 is the fuel system. 323 is malfunction indicator light, (check engine light), signal faulty. A-1 is auto trans. 323 is lock up slipping or not engaging. 313 would be PNP.

Forgot to add that transmission fluid level is OK and fluids appears & smells OK.

PNP sounds supicious. I'd turn the ign to "ON" (engine not running,) and ratchet that guy end to end about 20 times. Hopefully it'll clean some contacts. If not, get ready. How many miles?
