clear ecu memory? 850

Is removing the trans and ecu computer the same as disconnecting the battery? Trying to get transmission to stop keeping boost down before shifting like it used to before I raced it hard.

I pulled my ECU completely out of my car for about 30 minutes to try and clear a CEL code. When I plugged the ECU back in and started the car there was no change, the CEL was still on.

I've read (here) that it takes a few hours without power. Others
say few minutes. I doubt anyone knows for sure but leaving the
battery disconnected over-night seems to do it for my T5.

I would disconnect the battery over pulling ECU's to do this -- just
seems less envasive and better to leave the ECU alone unless you
    really need to swap it.

the correct way is to disconect the battery and leave it off over night.. that what dealer told me ....

but if you have shifting problem than I will flush the transimssion....
