SC800 stereo remote changer problem 850

I have a standard 6 changer CD in the rear of my sedan. It's great but it skips while playing tracks - even while stationary. Anyone know wy and what is the cure?

I used to have the same problem... You might try unbolting it from it's mount and wrapping it in a towel or blanket and placing it in a box.. drive around and see if the added protection eliminates the skipping.. I remounted mine with a surrounding of cloth as a damping material.. works fine for me...

Well, I took the thing out and disassembled it. The spring position for horizontal and vertical mounting position was set for horiz on one side and vertical the other. Half of the mechanism was sitting on the casing.

I set it correctly and replaced it, but I think I disturbed something because it now refuses to play anything sometimes for 5 minutes, then starts to work when it doesn't skip any more.

When it refuse to work I can hear the lens focus assembly on the laser working overtime.
