Driver's Side Window Track - fix? S70 1998

My lower Window track in my '98 S70 has come loose, making the clanking sound in the door. The window still works fine, though. So today I took teh panel off to see if I couldn't seat it back, or screw it in somewhere, but found that it's not quite as easy to access as I might have thought!

Well, if anyone could tell me how to fix and/or replace it that would be great!

Thanks!

Why can't you screw it back to where it was? If access is the problem, did you remove the window and the regulator? You have to remove most of that stuff to get decent access.

Driver's Side Window Track - fix? S70 1998

Haven't removed anything, which is probably my issue. I've since removed the track and found that the weld has snapped (the part that screws in broke from the rest of it) so I have a new part on order.

How exactly do I remove the window (the regulator seems straightforward, couple of bolts and a screw or to right in front, anything more complicated?)?

Thanks

That's what snapped on mine too. I fabricated a new attachment out of banding iron but a new one will work even better. The glass is raised and lowered by two supports that are attached to a metal plate that is bonded to the glass. The supports are attached to the plate with clips that have to be removed. Incidentally, there is another thread dealing with this issue below this one. In addition to the broken track, one of the clips on mine had come off so the window was being raised and lowered by one support, causing it to go up and down diagonally. Not sure of the cause and effect but I had two problems to fix.
