Engine Stabilizer mount is broken is IPD's good? 850

Hi,

Today while flushing the engine and switching to syn.oil (at last) I've seen that my engine stabilizer mount is broken. I'm sure it's no longer than two weeks that it is broken. Can you please point a direction to buy it? Has anybody replaced it with the IPD's, are you content with it? I have to drive more than 1000 miles this weekend do you think I shouldn't go?

Just one more question. I've read that IPD mount has some vibration issues. Is it very difficult to put
in the stock mount. Does it really require a special press tool as IPD says? If installing stock part is not as
difficult as IPD says I'll cancel my order. please reply soon. Thanks in advance.

Only good vibes with the IPD mount. 850

The bushing was broken in my car when I bought it in January. I bought the IPD bushing and installed it in half and hour - 45min. Ok, I'm slow.

Before buying it I read about vibration issues etc, but have no complaints. I couldn't tell the difference between the broken bushing and the IPD in terms of vibration.

No telling how long my car's bushing was bad but I drove it at least 1000 miles before replacing it. I suppose the other engine mounts could be subjected to more stress as the engine was free to rock back and forth more than usual but I haven't had any problems.

Just FYI, if your car is a turbo, the ductwork makes it a little more difficult to get a hacksaw frame around the bushings mount. The N/A cars are probably a piece of cake. Also, when you remove the arm from the dead bushing, be very careful not to flex the bushing at the firewall. It can tear/break also. Best to loosen the bolt running through that one too. Good luck,

      Thanks Erwin,

I was not sure to get the stock or the IPD's but now I think I'll get the the one I've already ordered (IPD). Mine is naturally aspirated so I don't think I'll have problems. BTW, I kept your advise and bought the Rhino Ramps. They're awesome! Already used for the engine flush and oil change and will use it for fuel filter replacement next weekend.
      Thanks,
      Ihsan

I posted this question about a month ago, poke around that timeframe and you will probably find it. Got a lot of answers, but for the most part people who have the IPD mount like it.

      Thanks,
You've been very helpful. The dealer in my area is selling it only with the arm and it is $92.99. So I have to bear the vibration and noise and buy the IPD's mount.

That sounds fishy to me. Start hunting for a reputable indy mechanic in your area. Unless that arm is shot (and you want to get a second opinion), I know of no reason that needs to be replaced as well.

The only reason is $$$! The dealer here doesn't let people leave without paying at least $100. The parts prices differ at least $70-250 from the list price. And though this is a very small town there's no indy Volvo mechanic that I know of.
I live in State College, PA.

The bushing itself is about $11 from a dealer. Wonder why they only
sell the arm? The parts person at my dealership considers the
upper mount a "wear item" and they replace them all the time.
You could order the bushing via mail(www.volvoparts.com or others
that advertise on this page) and have a shop press in the new one.

Only issue I have seen raised with the IPD unit is it may pass more
        vibration to the firewall.

They love money. The parts guy whom I've talked said "It is a whole with the arm. I can not sell it to you without the arm." I have already made a complaint to Volvo NA but I don't think it is any good. I just pray that Volvo dealership changes hands here in State College.

There are many mail order sources on the web, might be very useful in your area, as you have a dishonest and disreputable shark for a dealer, to find a good one and try it out !
