What should I do with this car 850 1993

My 1993 850 GLT died last week because the timing belt snapped. Now it is 3k to rebuild the engine. I should tell you all that the timing and serp belts was changed only two months back.

I was using this car only until last week. The car has 176k miles on it so I am not willing to spend 3k on it. Everything else works. What should I do with this car

1) Driveway art
2) Give it to charity
3) Try to sell it on Ebay
4) Pull every part apart and try sell part by part on Ebay.

Any other suggestions?

no warranty on the work that was just done? unless done by you, I would go back to who ever did it.

I took it back to the guy and he is saying something a big stone or something hit the underside of the car. He says there is even a hole there. He could say anything it is very diffcult to prove that it was his negligence

Does your insurance cover a freak road strike? 850 1993

My collision policy would cover the cost (less deductible) if a road hazard collision caused a catastrophic engine failure.

On the other side of this, $3K to repair is relatively cheap, especially if nothing else is wrong with the car (though it's easier to finance another car.) Why not get another 850? Then you've got a partzmobile!

How on earth can a big stone that hit the underide of the car possibly cause the timing belt, which is protected by covers, to snap?

Bullsh*t. Press your case . . . .

exactly what I was thinking... 850 1993

Anything big and heavy enough to get up there and break the timing belt would do a ton of damage to lots of other things.

Your mechanic is lying. Get under the car and check it yourself.

Regardless of how it happend, you replaced the belt two months ago -- i know my dealer gives a warranty with any work done on my car -- it should be covered. take it back to the guy
