OK,I'M IN...THANKS TO YOU ALL..GULP! V70-XC70 1998

After due consideration and reading of the pro/con posits...Da Wife'n Self bought a '98 V70 XC Wagon ( 70K miles ). During the Check Ride the car bucked at highway speed, check engine lite popped on and bucked several more time ovr the course of 20 miles and stalled once when coming to a stop....Owner ( a stand up guy it seems) had dealer replace Mass Air Flow sensor and upgrade the Motronic software( advice from Steven I think..)...Problem seems to have gone Bye-Bye...so we bought the car....nice ride!

Only issue is the CD player likes to skip(factory in dash unit)...seems worse the closer to center of the disc the laser gets...should I try and clean the think or yank it out for service by a Pro?

Time will tell whether it was wise

Just replace the cd player with a reman from the dealer as they're fairly inexpensive.
At 70K miles, I do hope the t-belt was replaced otherwise do so ASAP. Do read and understand all the tire related "horror stories" previously posted here about that cars AWD system (and the TNN from Volvo in regards to tires) as otherwise you might be in for a "rough ride" financially further down the road.

Not sure if you know...a CD reads from the inside to the outside...the first track is the INNER most portion of the CD.

    Welcome to Volvo.

Albob- Volvo in dash cd players are notorious for doing that. Usually through the course of your volvos life, if you have one it will become weird. Just get one of those lens claners. That worked for me, and was only like 4 bucks. Good Luck! ~Cody Julian
