I received my new, custom ordered 2002 S60T5ASR a couple of weeks ago. I love the car - everything works, quick, fun, etc.

I have been concerned, though, with the amount of road noise in the cabin from the front left tire area. The car came with Continental EcoPlus (16") and I have already changed them to Michelin XV4+.

Has anyone else experienced some discomfort over road noise? Even the great stereo has to be pretty cranked up to cover it. Should I undercoat?

Any brick.thoughts are appreciated.

I have S80 2.4T MY2001. Ive took it to volvo dealer here in Sweden and claimed about same noice from left front. Im also having Continental eco contact tire, same size 16. He told me a story about a S60 2.4T where they try to solve this noice. They replaced a lot of parts without solving noice problem. It turned out to be road noice from left tire. Noice cover inside machine room is thiner on left side. Thats explanation. Little bit annoying but I think I will survive.

I have a 2.4t w/ the 17" pirelli's and they make a ton of road noise on the sandpaper style road, but they are quiet other wise. Is it a rattle type noise, or just tire noise?

Its road noice. When you push brakes you here it louder. Definitly left front tire.

Hello, I also have an S60T5. The noise you describe is NOT a problem in my car. In fact, this is one of the quietest cars in almost all conditions. I have Pirelli P6s and Teythis 17 in. wheels.
I suggest you go back to dealer and drive some other S-60s. Demand yours is fixed or call area rep. My car has needed some repairs but all was handled well.
