Now it's leaking power steering fluid S80

Still have this piece of crp. Couldn't sell it, seems public knows about these cars. Will be trading it in for a Honda van (maybe) in the near future. Latest problem is leaking power steering fluid, not a little but a lot. Wife complained of loud growling noise, turned around and came home. When I came home from work, saw a puddle of red fluid inboard of LH front tire. I figured rack and pinion blew. Jacked it up, refilled PS resevoir, started engine. Saw a stream of PS fluid leaking from pressure side of PS hose at rack and pinion.
Well, at least it wasn't a blown rack and pinion (car is out of warranty). Next hurdle was to try to tighten the hose. Yea right, no access. Now, I am no beginner at tight access places (aircraft mechanic) but there is no way to get a wrench on it without pulling motor. So I had to resort to the hammer and chisel method. Got it tightened up enough to stop the leak. Sent wife on her way on a buisness trip, guess what, it's leaking again. Now at Volvo dealer in San Diego to get fixed. I wonder how much it's going to cost me this time. I hate this car!

    You are not alone S80

    Hi Dwight,

Ditto on your feelings for your car and Volvo. My 1999 V70 XC has had 35 part failures for 33 trips back to the Dealer in the past 3 years and 1 month. That works out to be a repair every 4.5 weeks since I bought the car new.

All I can do is sit back a laugh at it all. I am well past the Red Face and White Knuckle attitude.

My current mileage is 46Kmiles. By the end of this summer I will be driving a new car for I am not going to paying Volvo/Dealer to keep fixing this pile of crap/garbage that Volvo calls a car.

    Best Wishes and Good Luck,

    Steven---

Got luck only $175 this time S80

Turned out to be bad seals in pressure line. 70K miles and a seal goes bad? C'mon! I hate this car.

I had a similar problem on my 2001 S80. The shop replaces it with a larger hose, saying that it was a known problem.
