ok,this is for my moms V70, it's being retarded as always, and the power lock to the trunk isn't working at all. when i push the button on the door, i hear a sound in the dash implying somethings goin on, but i look back, and it's still locked, the remote opener does nothing for the gate either. it was fine and dandy a couple weeks ago, what went wrong?

    I live on the east coast and every year when it gets below 30 F my V70 wagon tail locks open. If I open the back I have to reset the lock to get it closed again.Suffice to say I don't have use of my trunk for most of the winter. Pretty weird design flaw.

    Any chance the child-lock mechanisim is half way between engaged
    and dis-engaged? Look for a bright yellow sticker next to the lock
    mechanisim (on the bottom edge). May not be there on V70s since the
    rear mechanisim varies depending on if ordered with the 3rd row seat
    option. (Check the rear passenger doors to see what it looks like.)

    (Hopefully, you can manually open the rear door to check.)

    I, too, have been having trouble with the lock on the tailgate of my 855. It appears to prevent the remote from locking and unlocking the car. Does anyone have diagrams/circuit diagrams on the tailgate lock/microswitch setup? Any help would go down really good.

      Sorry to say, I lost my tailgate-lock altogether,remote & switch. Then, I lost my rear demist. Then the rear wiper. As a former 240/owner,I remembered the wiring harness through the roof hinge had to be replaced. So, looking at the hinge I found 3 wires broken - a replacment was due on my V-70.Off I went to the Volvo dealer, bought the harness,$122.00, with club discount, about an hour of labor at home. Everything works/now its the tailgate cover that needs work. A tailgate fix kit from idp should solve the problem.
