Check engine light S70

The check engine light on my 99 S70 with 31,000 miles went on two days ago. I checked and made sure that the gas cap is closed tight but the light is still on. Anything else I can check before bringing the car to the dealer?

i'm probably too late to respond, but just wait a few days. If the gascap was loose or you ran the fuel too low, it will throw a CEL. Even if you tighten the cap, fill up, etc., the CEL will stay on for about a week. But it WILL go out by itself.

You could buy an OBD-II scanner.

Where can I buy this and how much does it usually cost?

Go to www.JeepersandCreepers.com for "EQUUS 3100 OBDII Scan Tool", which costs about $150 and works great.

Hi Mike,

You are under warranty. Take it back to the Dealer.
