Silent Rear Speakers 850 1994

Alright you car stereo afficionados!
Here's a tricky one!

I have the following

1994 Volvo 850 Turbo
SC-810 Radio/Cassette/CD Changer Controller Stereo

Speakers in Dash, Front doors, rear doors, and rear deck

My problem is that the rear deck speakers are not working... ALL other speakers are working and fader to rear and front works fine. The rear deck speakers are just not working... Do these run in parallel/series off the rear door speakers?

Or is there a separate amplifier to power these..

Thanks,

Shawn

I found the same in my rear's, and then remembered seeing a similar magnet in the glove box. Turns out it was one of the front ones...'found the other front one had fallen and attached itself to the metal knee bolster on passenger side. Used very environmentally unfriendly glue made by locktite called Black Max....consists of super glue with melted tires mixed in with it to provide vibrational resistance....regular super glue would probably work....give ample cure time, unless you like doing this sort of thing.

Junk yards are full of these.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the unsolicited advice. Been scratching my head over my rear speakers for years. Pulled them out and took them apart yesterday and sure enough, the tweeter magnets had broken loose and smashed into the woofer cone. The speakers are destroyed but at least I know the problem now and can go find replacements.

    HI U.C.
I have had the no sound problem with my rear speakers also in my '94 854, they have never worked since i got the car in '96 with 30k , I have taken one out and could not see anything obvious, although maybe I did not look at the magnet good enough. I have read that they fall off. I hooked up a portable radio to the wires and it worked, so the problem is with the speakers, you may want to be sure they are getting power also.

This happened to one of my rear speakers; I removed the speaker and noticed that the little magnet became unglued and fell onto the large magnet. Apparently Volvo used an environmentally sound but weak glue to hold the magnet into place. I just glued it back into place and it works fine now.

      Silent Speakers... I wish... 850 1994

Believe me, in parts of Memphis, silent speakers would be considered environmentally friendly.
