Ignition/Fan/Radio/RPM shorting out, car occationally stalls... 850 1996

Well, I am at the end of my financial run here... I have taken it to the dealer who "thought" it was the relay between these 3 items (not)

They told me it was the immobilizer that is in my car (not) I had that removed telling them it was faulty, but now that the immobilizer is removed, I am still having the same problem.

- Radio cuts in and out (occasionally needing code)
- Fan starts to sound funny on low speed
- Ignition cuts out if the radio or fan are turned up (intermittently)
- When this short actually happens, the rpm guage starts to climb up.

The Volvo Dealer has never seen this before, and is about to charge me mega $$$ for troubleshooting time.

Somebody please help,

Thank You

You might want to have your battery checked just for the heck of it. I had a '96 Grand Cherokee that started up great but would act all psychotic after it started. It would spit and sputter and stall... only to restart right away. I think the radio would also need to be re-programed and remember the tach doing some strange things. I'm sure there were some other gremlin activity but can't remember... it was a couple years ago.

The dealer and I actually thought it was my computer going bad... It turned out to be a bad battery! I guess they can do the strangest things on their way out.

I'd check battery, alternator amd circuit between the two to see if there is intermittent loss of power from either
    1. bad battery and/or alternator
    2. or possibly poor connection between alternator and battery so the battery is not being charged
    do you have problems starting?

The problem is definately not a lack of charging, the starter turns over nicely, battery is in good condition. Sounds like more of of a short circuit, but the problem is finding it. Someone told me that I should check the ignition switch, anyone else have any more ideas?

      thanks,
