T5 - Speaker Question S70 1998

I have a '98 S70 T5-M with the Premium Sound (SC-816) from the factory. I've since replaced the 816 with a SC-900, a 6-disc Volvo changer and the Volvo AMP which resides under the passenger seat.... Sound was definetely improved but...

My question is about the speakers. They have paper cones, what speaker package (Volvo OEM) can I get that has a more resilient cone material? I know about the dynaudio upgrade from Europe, but $1200 dollars is a tad steep for me.

Anyone know of any other packages? I know I've seen speakers in the Volvo Accessory list, picture attached (on the right, sitting ont he amp, appears to be some sort of upgraded tweeters for the front?)... Anyone know about these?

Oh, another thing, on my rear deck, the driver's side speaker has a strange problem VERY intermittently, the cone seems to get stuck to the little plastic thing in the center which is supporting the tweeter and doesn't move up and down properly... anyone know of something I can use to fix this? I'm afraid to spray lubricant on there, with the absorbent paper especially....

Thanks,

Scott Silverman

Where do you get the 6 disc cassette from? Mine came with the 3 disc one and I would like to upgrade. Thanks.

The 3 disc cassette is used with the 3-disc in-dash changers on the SC-900 and SC-901 stereos (optional on S70, standard on certain C70 I believe). The 6-disc cassette is used with the Volvo 6-disc CD-Changer which mounts remotely (usually glovebox or trunk) and interfaces directly with the head unit (via the CD-6 button). To get this changer you can go through the dealer (BIG money) or find it elsewhere (like eBay, common choice, that's where I got mine. It's alot cheaper and quite easy to install yourself for even the most novice DIYer, remember, you do NOT seem to need the bracket that installs in the back....)

Anyway, hope I answered your question! anyone know the answer to mine?

Got my OEM 6 Disc Changer kit from Discount Car Stereo (www.discountcarstereo.com). I've bought two OEM kits from them (one for my S70 and one for my old 850). Very good prices. And they're Alpine changers. EASY INSTALLATION. Disconnect battery. Remove Stereo. Plug in changer control line to the back of the stereo. Splice a power feed into the cigarette lighter (or other power line). Done.

I mounted mine under the dash on the Passenger side.
