Help- Turn Signal on Driver's Side Not Working Right 850

The turn signals on my 1995 Volvo 850 are acting up.

The turn signals work properly on the passenger side of the car ( front as well as rear). However, on the driver's side the rear turn signal flashes too rapidly and the front signal does not flash at all.

Inside the car, I can hear the relay clicking too rapidly when the driver's side signal is on. The right turn signal sounds normal(click-click-click).

With the daylight running lights on , the front driver's side light is on- just does not flash when the turn signal goes on.

Already swapped out several bulbs to see if that was an iss. The bulbs are all OK.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

nathan

I've noticed that if the bulbs (I've only changed the rears) aren't in correctly, or twisted in too far, or just not right, you get the fast flash.

Have you checked the bulb? Turn signals are not conected to the bulb out system. The rapid flashing is to get your attention and let you know there is a problem. Burned out bulb, corroded contacts in bulb socket, or poor ground.

There is a little plastic plate with some wiring on it, that attaches to the back of the turn signal on the front. The metal/wires on it are known to corrode. I am not 100% sure this is your problem, but it is a good place to check. Try removing it from the car, and testing it for continuity. If my memory serves me correctly, it should cost about $15.

Sin,

Thanks ! That was exactly the problem - I swapped the right one for the bad one and it works.

I am off to the dealer to buy the part ($14.95) - think I'll replace both side so I won't have the problem again.

Thanks Again !

nathan
