check engine light V70-XC70

my V70 T-5 (manual) has about 75k on it and today returning from work the check engine light came on. I'm guessing that it's an O2 sensor? How does one figure out what caused it without taking it to a dealer? I'm looking to fix this myself. thanks all.

If you live near an "Autozone", you can take your car to them and they will plug into your obII port and tell you what the diagnostic code is for free!

Mine had the check engine light come around about 75k, too, it was the throttle position sensor and it came on right after they cleaned the throttle body. It's much cheaper to download the codes and fix it that way than start shotgunning parts into the thing, even if you have to bring it into a shop. There are about a million things that can cause the "check engine" light to come on.
