clutch not engaging compressor 850 1994

i have a 94 850 w/ 156,500miles. a few months ago my a/c would stop cooling the first time the compressor cut off(would not cut itself back on)now the clutch will not engage the compressor at all. the diagnostic test came up w/ two faults - 4-1-1(blower fan seized or drawing excessive current) & 4-2-0 (ECU fault in program). anyone have an answer?

thx john

In addition to what MrSha says I will add blower motor fan failures
    are fairly common.

Does the fan blow air at all (AC off or on)?

A new fan assembly will run about $140 and is pretty easy to replace
(once you try the plug/unplug relay trick you will pretty much know
    how to do it).

yes the fan does blow air(cold at first then compressor will not come back on). only saw 1 relay (blue/green) behind glove box. should there be two? (describe). also are there any fuses in the fuse box panel relating to the compressor?

      thanks for your help

      john

Do this opend up the fan are.. behind the glove box... look in the back for 2 relay.. unplug the relay and plug it back again... unplug the fan motor connector and plug it back again... try to spind the fan blade by hand.. see if anything stuck it should move freely...

sometimee leaves and dirt locking up the fan blade.. causing it to use more power.... and won't spind......

go to www.volvospeed.com it show you how to get to the fan.. it about 1 hours job not very hard...
