Anyone have a tire recommendations for a 1996 850T? I'm willing to sacrifice performance for ride comfort and less noise...perhaps I can go from 50R to 55R? According to the Tirerack, the larger 55R size works, but I'm worried about too much rubbing. What is the board's experience with this? Thanks.

You did not say where you live, but Firehawk SH radials in H speed rating are just great performance and comfort tire. Stick in the rain, stick in the snow, stick when its dry, and they are quiet. WAY LESS EXPENSIVE than anything else because Firestone is still trying to recover from its in-law trouble with Ford. I gave $340 on the car for four of these 50k tires (205hr55 16) mounted on Andromeda (960-S90) wheels I acquired from someone who was trying to put them on a 240. Ride improved over the 195HR60x15's tremendously.

i have 195x60x15 (205's also fit) on my 850 turbo and the ride is excellent & smooth, but i would like more performence oriented setup. I want to go up to 16 or 17 inch rims.

I have the Volvo 15 inch "cetus" 5 spoke 5 lug OEM rims if anyone would like to sell/trade/ make a deal for my 15's for your 16's let me know. lets trade rims.

OK...before we can give you some good advice we need to know what you have on now. What size are you running? What brand and model of tires? What were you on before that made these so much worse? What kind of driving do you do?

If you can tell us that we can offer better advice on what you might like.

My current setup:
Front: Sumitomo HTRZ2 205V/50ZR16
Rear: BFG Radial T/A P205/50R16

These are the tires that were mounted when I purchased the car 5,000 miles ago. I'm doing mostly city driving, not too aggressive, never over 100 mph. I'm willing to sacrifice some performance for a more quiet, comfortable ride. I would like to spend around $100/tire, and the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 or Yoko AVS dB seem to get the best reviews at TireRack for that price range.

Any opinions?

My 95 854T runs 205/55/16s. There is only a slight amount of rub in the wheel wells, just enough to keep the dirt off the spot. I hate my current tire, which are Wally World Goodyear American Eagles. The car might as well have skates as soon as it starts snowing. I ended up getting Blizzaks for the winter and they are amazing. I even like their dry ride better than the Goodyears :-)

I've been researching 3+ season replacements and am also interested in comfort over performance. I've been leaning towards BFG Touring T/As, which come in a 55 V rating. I've got Comp T/As on my 84 242T and they are a nice tire.
