Tire size for 16' wheels.... 850

Okay guys.........I've only posted once before (and you helped me alot...Thanks by the way). But here's another (probably ignorant) query for you.
Just purchased a set of Persus (originally equipment for th 86, 850 Turbo) wheels. WOO HOO!!!
Putting them on a 1997, 850 GLT, BUT......... Original tires calls out for a 205/55/16, not a 205/50/16.
Now at the Bay 13 site, there are photos of a poor soul who tried to redesign his inner fender wells using the 55 series. I don't want to duplicate this poor guys malady. Yet, the 55 series tire is closer to the original 195/60/15 tire I'm currently running. Thoughts here would be tremendously appreciated. (IN OTHER WORDS.........HELP!!!!!!!).
Thanks in advance for your patience and input.

I'm running Continental 205/55/16 on
-98 V70GLT and have not noticed any rubbing.
The stock size for that car is 195/60/15.

Nut case, I am currently running 205 55. Not a good idea, I have terrible rubbing in the front in a turn. I highly reccomend the stock 205 50, it is worth the extra 1/2 decibal of road noise to save yourself hundreds in damage down the line. Im thinking of going to a 215 45 when I get my IPD lowering springs. Good Luck :)
