Reseting the factory ECU S70

I just replaced the factory airfilter with a K&N. Should I reset my factory ECU? If so, does anyone know how I can reset without unplugging the battery terminal? I do not have the pin for the factory stereo.

Also, will this void any warranties at a Volvo dealership if I have replaced the stock airfilter with a K&N?

Thanks in advance!

I have a K&N drop in and reworked part of my intake so a pipe goes right in back of the grille, adds power especially when the temperature hits in the low 60s and 50 degrees mark, and on the highway when you hit the throttle.
The dealership never says anything to me about it.

If you want to gain back some original power, clean your Throttle Body every few thousand miles or with oil changes.

Where can I get this filter? Are mods required to intake plumbing?

Hey Mike,

No mods are needed. It just replaces you factory air filter. Some automotive stores carry them or if you want to buy online try:

You may want to buy the cleaning/oiling kit also... so you don't have to bother with it when it needs cleaning & reoiling.

YoHee,

I have been running a K&N air filter on my '98 S70 GLE for over 1 yr now. It'll not void any warranty. In fact, it'll save you $$ at the dealership because you won't have to buy anymore air filter for the next 1,000,000 miles. As for resetting your factory ECU, Volvo does that at every MAJOR service ( I just had my 96k MAJOR service done yesterday ). Even before the factory ECU was resetted, I still could feel a difference, so in your T5, it should make a lot of difference.

Hope that helps,

If you have the serial number off the radio, you can get the code for it. The dealer can help you with that. Also, if it's the orig radio, the VIN # will also get you there.

I just dropped it in without resetting the ECU. I can still remember my local Volvo mechanic noticed the difference when I went in for a break job. I was asked about things done to the car. Be sure to hold the steering wheel tight with both hands when stepping down on the gas.
