Paint/Bodywork S60

My local dealer does not have a Paint/Bodyshop. I was referred to a growing name in the vehicle repair business Caliber Collision.

Yesterday, I went to pick the car up. I found a spec of dust that had been painted into the car. I then found another, and another..around 16 total! Then, I realized that not all the plastic rivets (rear bumper was removed) had been replaced and the bumper was lose! The job was unsatisfactory!

Tomorrow, I will again attempt to pick up the vehicle.

Those of you who might be familiar with paint and body work..what am I to expect? What kind of work does a good paint/body shop do? How picky should I be? The car is less then a year old, I want a factory like look.

Am I asking for too much?

Nope, your not expecting too much, the dust can be wet sanded out, but i have a friend that runs a body shop, and is subcontracted by local Volvo dealership, they wouldnt let that go through, i would fight and make them correct it, i have seen many a car leave a shop looking just as god if not better than oem, they defintely didnt do it right, their booth should ne clean so that the dust doenst settle on the car, but maybe they'll work with you, and at least wet sand/buff it out, Jamie

The work is excellent when you don't notice that the car was ever repaired due to an accident. It should look exactly like it did before especially for a newer car. It seems the shop did a very poor/sloppy job.

Definitely be picky. If the dealer recommened you go there then you should be expecting dealer quality. It won't continue to be a growing business if they produce poor quality work. My car was been repaired and painted at a place the dealer recommened and it looks new. Be firm with these people.

I would be picky as heck. I restored first-gen firebirds and other pontiacs for years (before wising up to volvos!) and I would NEVER tollerate that type of work. I know what body shops are and aren't capable off. Replacing the bumper and making sure it is bolted all the way down, thats pretty simple and if they couldn't do that, then I would worry about alot of other things.

Though, my dealer replaced the drip molding that runs along the windshield on mine (got bent somehow) and they didn't get it clipped back in right and about half way home the wind caught it, and rebent it. I don't want to drive an s40 rental again for the weekend! So they better fix it right this time!

      :(
