Brakes making wierd noise 850 1995

Hello,

My front brakes are making a low-pitched, non-metallic growling sound just before the car stops. It's like the rotors are glazed or something. The PBR pads are good and the Balo rotors only a year old.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I noticed that you are running Balo Rotors and I'm looking at getting a pair of those for my 850. I was wondering what type of experiences you have had with them? Have they lasted more than 15,000 miles? Are they any good?

Yeah, I saw your post John, but I don't know if I can give you a scientific answer. I've had the Balo (front) rotors for about a year. They're now (18,000 miles later) barely starting to feel like they're warping. But it could be caused by uneven tightening of the lugs. Thus I can't say it's the rotor's fault. They were the plain, non-drilled, vented type. I got them from germanautoparts.com I believe. Around $45 each. I'm going with OEM Volvo rotors and pads next time and I'll use a torque wrench on the lug nuts to see how that works out.
