Does any body know where the stock amplifier is and how to get to it. 850 1996

I am installing a new radio and need to by pass the stock amp. I was told it is below the radio near the hump, but its not there. Thanks,

On my 95 T5R it's sit's just below and behind the stock radio (SC810). I could easily see it when I removed the kick panel on the drivers side (mine is RHD) for the tunnel. It looks to me like it feeds the amp , then the output of the map is routed to the radio again and from there to the speakers. I might be wrong.

If you do find out and can pinpoint the wires which will give RCA type inputs it would be nice.

Mine doesn't have an amplifier, if one is fitted as an extra, you might look above the driver's feet above the kick panel. A post I saw somewhere said that's where his was.

do not know about 850's but in 740's it is behind the glovebox, might be a place to look.

In 740s, the stock amp is actually under the left side of dash and to L of the steering column.

Funny my neighbors is behind the glovebox i do not what year it is 86 maybe, but there is a Volvo Factory Amp there. Seen it. and looks to be factory mounted and wired not added in.

Most cars did not come with an external amp. If installed, should be on the hump behind the ash tray.

because there is no external radio amp in your car. Everything's in the stock radio.

If your car is an R, it does have an external amp.(Could have been removed by the original owner). I think I read it was under one of the front seats. BUT, only if u have 850 R; otherwise the amp is built into the radio. BD
