XM Radio Antenna...Can I hide it behind a sunroof defelctor? 850

Has anyone ever tried hiding the Terk SR-2 antenna under and behind an acrylic sunroof deflector? This would hide the antenna and keep thieves unalerted. Moreover, the smoked acrylic deflector would not affect reception as it doesn't contain any lead or metallic substrate. The only hinderance would be whether there is enough roof space exposed behind the deflector to allow attachment of the SR-2. I don't know about the alloted roof space afforded with the application of the deflector. I would, in a NY minute, order a deflector if the necesary spacing was available on the roof. I guess I could get a "stick-on" rather than a "clip-on" deflector and thus allow the placement of the deflector to my own discretion. Any thoughts would been greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

XM Radio Antenna...Can I hide it behind a sunroof defelctor? 850

I recently installed Radio XM to my car as well and love it, beats our local radio anyday. As for the antenna however, it won't work well (if at all) if you try hiding it. It needs to be un-obstructed completely for satelite reception.
I also have a Garmin eMap on the dash (whenever going on a trip that is) and it often has a hard time receiving through the windshield, doesn't receive at all under thick tree canopy if I'm in the woods and cloudcover effects it too. I'm planning to get an exterior antenna for that as well but it's also not cheap (about $100).

The method that I outlined would have the antenna mounted on the roof, but under the acrylic wind deflector. There is no interference with reception of transmission through a plastic piece of material. I have just spoken with Volvo, as well as with Terk technicians...they said that it was a novel idea that should work...

The xm radio antenna I bought is the Terk SR-2...shaped exactly like a computer mouse. There are other shapes.
