I'd like to add a switch to my 2000 C70 power antenna.
I've got the in-dash 3-cd surround sound system.

Anybody know which wire it is that needs the switch?
And is there a source for switches that fit in the dash.

I just want to keep the antenna down (for asthetics) when
it's not needed (CDs, in the city, etc.).

I bought the switch from Borton Volvo. You might want to check with West County Volvo 800.822.4521. I installed it on my '98 C70 in about 20 minutes. Make certain that you put a towel on your center console to prevent scratches from the radio once you remove it. You have to drop/remove the knee bolster on the driver's side to feed the wiring to where you'll place the switch where the blank covers are. It was easy.

here is a link to what you need from volvospeed.com. they include instructions on how to install the factory switch. Apparently the kit includes a wiring harness pass through that you install between the wire loom and the stereo. seems pretty straight forward with the factory switch, plus everything matches on your dashboard.

Easy install ... perfect match ... works fine. Thanks.

Most of my stations work fine with the antenna down,
only a couple have trouble.

Question: When you play CDs and you switch to the radio, does the antenna automatically go back up, or do you have to manually put it up?

Before switch installation, the antenna was always up whenever the
console had power applied. The only way to get the antenna down
was to turn off the console. It doesn't matter if you are listening
to CDs, tape, or radio.

After switch installation, You can bring the antenna down by
"engaging" the antenna down switch, which probably just opens
the circuit.

One disappointment, you can't partially extend the antenna,
it's up whenever it gets 12V, and down when it doesn't.

I noticed my reception in the city is as good as it gets after
the first 6 inches or so is extended, but there's no way to
freeze it there.
