Windshield Fluid Container Leaking - Possibly O-ring S70 1998

Hi,

I've a 1998 Volvo S70 GLE. This problem started a few weeks ago. Everytime I filled up with windshield fluid, it would start to leak as I approached the
"Full" mark.

I talked to my service manager @ my dealership this morning, and he said that it could due to a O-ring on the windshield washer fluid container. The part itself, he said, is cheap ( a few bucks ), but I'm looking at $40-$50 Cdn for the labor.

Has anyone of you 1998 S70 owners had this problem ? ... If so, what is the cause ? ... If it is the O-ring, how easy is it to change myself ?

TIA,

I had a similar problem... One of the "T" valves for the headlight washers was cracked or something (nothing visually wrong..except for fluid dumping out of it) When I filled the washer fluid level above the height of this valve the fluid would naturally leak out. Open your hood and near the headlight somewhere ( i dont remeber exactly where) you will see what I am talking about. Just trace the line from the headlight, you'll run right into it. This is on the passenger side of the car, not sure if there is a valve on the left side. And you're probably thinking, "but mine isn't leaking up from near the headlight", well check it anyway. When mine leaked the fluid hit several things on its way down, by the time the fluid hit the ground it looked more like it was coming from the filler neck. Anyway I hope this helps, and this part is also cheap to replace in case you are wondering.

    Good Luck

      DG,

Guess what ? ... It looks like the T-valve that is causing the leak. Now, my question is how to replace it ? ... I am going to pick one up later this after-noon on the way home from school, and take care of it on the weekend.

Do I need to jack the front of the vehicle to replace it ? ...

Once again, I truly appreciate your assistance, DG ! ...
