CPO Warranty S70

I'm thinking of purchasing my 1999 S70 at the end of it's lease. My local dealer suggested that they can offer a CPO extended warranty if I decide to purchase the car. Has anyone gone this route, and if so, how much did you pay for the CPO extended warranty?

    Hi,

In my area (Silicon Valley) the Extended warranty (7/100) costs $2,900USD from Volvo. You can by extended warranties for less from Volvo but you get less. Also there are extended warranties from other third parties so buyers beware. Third parties have hidden clauses that can get you when you need the big repairs done. The best one I once saw was; if it is a “design defect” then the extended service warranty will not cover the repair. “Design defect” is a very broad definition and can apply to almost anything. So read the fine print!

So I have decided to dump my 99XC at the end of the summer just before the Factory warranty expires. My 99XC has been back to the shop for warranty work no few then 32 different times over the past 3 years to have repair 21 different items. Some of the repeat repairs have been window switches and top engine mounts. Not exactly a car I want to keep for the long haul. Currently it is at the Dealer having a Radiator hose replaced. It sprang a leak.

    Good Luck,

    Steven---

      EEEK,

Sorry you had so many problems harder.

I had the extended warranty on mine.. They paid for a lot of broken issues on the car and I had a similar 32x+ visit to the dealership experience. I have found however in the past few months of non warranty that my car breaks less. I think it may have something due to bad dealerships. Overall the warrany coverage from Volvo is poor and they dont cover "adjustments". I had a clunking in my brakes that Dyer and Dyer of refused to look at because it was an adjustment and not covered under my warranty. I put up with the clunk because I was "over it" at that point and was willing to put up with the repair. Upon doing a brake job on my car I found one of my front calipers attached only by one bolt and "hanging" onto the rotor. I am very lucky that I did not need to do a panic hard stop on an uneven surface during the time my brakes had been left half on. Ironically enough I had refused the "brake job" that they desperately wanted to sell me from the previous visit. I guess they just "slapped the car back together" and neglected to do it right. Grunt Grunt "cheap ass bastard" grunt grunt......

My policy now is not to allow anyone affiliated with Volvo Cars of North America within a 50 foot radius of my car.
