HELP! RE: Rain Sensors S60

Help!! I can't get my rain-sensor wipers to work.....to make it worse..now I don't even know if I do have such function...

I was informed by the local dealership that my new car S60 T5 comes standard with the rain sensor.

After trying to play around with it and activitating it today, I found out that the rain sensor does not work. I followed all the instruction in the manual..which says the rain sensor activation is the same as using the Intermittent wiper function.

But it seems I can only get the intermittent function to work, not the rain sensor function.

I asked my dealer and they really have no clue..because it says on their spec sheet that it's standard on T5 (in my country)...and they also said I have a piece of black housing on the inside of windshield behind the rear-view mirror...which they say is the rain sensor...But again, I showed them and they couldn't get it to work either.

So my question is:

1. Is that black plastic piece behind the rear-view mirror for rain sensor? On those models without rain sensor, do they still have that same black piece, or no? I will check out the 2.0T version (which has no rain-sensor) and see if it has that black housing.

2. There are 2 possibilites....
A - either the dealer and the Volvo Taiwan distributor was mis-informed or lied to me about this standard feature...

B- I do have the rain sensor standard on my car..but somehow I just need to find a way to activate it...maybe need to be "turned on" through VADIS? if this is the case, and i hope it is...then does anyone know how to do this on VADIS? what is the function#?

Somehow I have a bad feeling that the catologue and dealer info were wrong...and my T5 does NOT have the sensor....which is gonna be a big bummer since it's also one of the reason i decided to pay more for a T5 instead of a 2.0T (of course, the 250HP engine is the main reason..). If case A is true, then maybe I can sue my local dealerhsip and distributor for false information? Maybe at least get some compensation or some sort....

Thanks a lot!!

HELP! RE: Rain Sensors S60

I understand that you are not residing in the US so all I can tell you is that the rain-sensor has been an option on non-US/Canada bound Volvos starting with production of cars in mid-December. Check with your Retailer to find out when your car was produced (easy for them, just give them the last 6 of your VIN). If your car was produced before December 15, 2001 then it definitely does not have the sensor.

I could not tell you what it looks like or what to look for as I have never seen one. Perhaps some of the people who post here from Europe or Asia can shed some light to your questions.

Good luck,

Yannis

Rain Sensors? S60

I've never heard of "rain sensors" on any Volvo so before you get overly exited, try perhaps calling someone at Volvos customer service # or ask a salesperson who should know. If it's mentioned in your manual, maybe it's an option in another country?
If any US Volvo has such a device, it's news to me.
